Ice Hockey Programmes:
Ice Hockey is a high intensity intermittent skating sport, with rapid changes in velocity and duration, with frequent body contact. The high intensity bursts require the hockey player to develop muscle strength, power, and anaerobic endurance. All this needs to be combined with good stick and puck handling skills, making physical conditioning key to being successful, so the player can produce high skill levels when fatigued.
Our series of programmes have been designed to take you from the beginning of a new training cycle, all the way through to competition, whilst preparing you for optimal performance.
We recommend that you follow the training programmes in the order we specify, to help you structure your training correctly for long term development so that you produce your best possible results.
We have identified the key physical attributes for Ice Hockey that will develop your performance. We have, as a result, written programmes designed to target these attributes specifically for the following areas: strongman, strength, power, speed, and plyometric. Each programme has a de-loading week between training blocks, to aid recovery and reduce the risk of injury.

Not progressing the way you want? Not seeing any development short or long term can kill motivation and enthusiasm for training and the sport you love. Confidence in your training and having a long term plan is key to your success. Having aims and objectives helps to develop goals through an increase in knowledge and understanding of your own performance. This helps maintain motivation over long periods of time, by seeing your short term goals being met.
DS Performance can work with you to set performance targets and key performance indicators to help you plot your development.
You can only improve what you can measure.
Basketball Programmes:
While in Basketball no two players are exactly the same in size, shape, or skill level. Players must always improve their on-court performance by developing key physical attributes. Becoming a great basketball player is so much more than just refining the skills that are on display on the court. They need to develop speed, power, agility, and strength for improved performance.

Liz Parslow – Climbing
“I initially met Dave through a mutual friend who he was already treating for a cycling injury. I had a movement assessment with Dave and from that, he wrote me a corrective plan to work on my imbalances. I was also suffering from elbow and wrist issues from all the climbing I do, he gave me a strength programme to help reduce these issues. The programme included activation work before I climbed and strengthening exercises to do as well. This combination of work increased my strength and reduced the pain I saw suffering with. His training methods and knowledge of the body was key to unlocking the root cause of my issues. I continue to do the work he gave me and I continue to climb pain free.”
