Embedding elite performance

MY MOTIVATION

“I didn’t receive Strength & Conditioning support until I was in my early 20s, and I went on to become a GB/international athlete nine years later. It makes me think so much more could have been achieved with specific support earlier on in my sporting career. So, my aim is to give people that support as early as possible, so they can start achieving as soon as possible.”

VISION

Building for the future together: The go-to place for sports performance.

We aim to become an online community-based High-Performance Centre where athletes and coaches can share knowledge, experience, and application of good practices. We are working constantly and building for the future, by embedding technology and innovation into our educational and sporting community.

VALUES
  • Non judgemental

  • Delivering beyond expectations

  • Innovate for tomorrow, not today

  • Professional, transparent, and honest

  • Process driven, not outcome focused

  • Relationships to create community

ABOUT DAVE SMITH

Firstly, thank you for visiting DS Performance, my name is David Smith, I’m the founder and owner.

My own athletic background is diverse. I’m a former Team GB athlete, where I competed at Bobsleigh internationally. Throughout my athletic career I have competed at multiple individual, team, and racket sports. Currently I enjoy playing golf on a recreational level. I train 5 days a week, where I include Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, and sprinting as part of my weekly routines.

Throughout my sporting career I have competed at the highest level, gaining vast experience in elite performance which I now utilise as a coach. As a Strength & Conditioning coach, I’ve supported athletes in over 30 different sports and disciplines, over a 20-year period.

My goal is to create an online sporting community, that shares knowledge and experiences through sporting cross pollination. This will introduce athletes from all backgrounds and abilities to elite training methods, to increase performance, reduce risk of injury and bring structure along with progressive development.

I have designed reliable and easy to follow training programmes to provide athletes with a performance pathway, for both short and long-term athletic development.

MY COACHING PHILOSOPHY

Honesty:

You will always know where you stand with me, and I will be honest about how I can help you.

Transparency:

There will never be any hidden agendas or conflict of interest. I want the best for the athlete, and I will do the best for you.

Process driven:

Success doesn’t come over night. I always recommend being patient, keep the faith and follow the process.

Athlete Focused:

I apply both direct and educational interventions, to develop your performance, and to increase your understanding of your performance.

Athlete responsibility:

I believe you, the athlete must be responsible for your performance. You are accountable for what you do, who you are, why you do it, how you do it and what you put in.
